Dave Matcham

I am Dave Matcham, Chief Executive of the International Underwriting Association and am keeping this blog to provide an informal look at life in the London insurance market and better explain what the IUA is doing on behalf of its members.

Dave Matcham is Chief Executive of the International Underwriting Association of London (IUA). The IUA (www.iua.co.uk) is the market association representing insurance and reinsurance companies writing international business centred on London.

Prior to joining IUA at its formation on 31 December 1998, he worked for 18 years for the Institute of London Underwriters – a trade association for marine and aviation insurers in London originally established in 1884. ILU merged with LIRMA to form IUA on 31 December 1998 with Dave being appointed Director of Operations. He became Chief Executive of the IUA on 17 March 2005.

Dave became an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute in 1986 and obtained his Fellowship (specialising in aviation) in 1989. He still takes an active role in the CII, having served twice as president of one its regional institutes.

Dave also acts as Chairman of the Market Issues Committee, Insurance Institute of London and is a member of the London Market Faculty Board. He was made a Fellow of the Institute of Association Managers in October 2006.
