Once a year IUA, like many other City institutions holds a lunch for the Lord Mayor of London. We were indeed fortunate last week to host this event in the splendid surroundings of the Lord Mayor’s temporary residence, namely Mansion House.
With an array of nationalities on the IUA Board, our delegation enjoyed the spectacle of the occasion; quite different to anything they might experience in their home country. One Board member compared Mansion House to an example of a City tardis – a building into which one enters through an unassuming door to be met with splendid rooms and hundreds of years of history.
We greatly value our relationship with Mansion House, not least to support the Lord Mayor’s promotional work for the City which is indeed a common goal. We regularly brief the Lord Mayor on key issues and have occasionally supported him on his overseas trips. The value of the Lord Mayor (pictured with IUA Chairman Stephen Riley) to the City is significant and part of our rich tradition for which we would be poorer without.
